During the 1920's and 1930's, Jean Carlu (1900-1997), was one of the main characters in French poster designs. This poster, Au Bon Marché, one of the trendiest stores in Paris to this day, displays a doorman holding an umbrella and toys behind a little girl. The way Carlu presented the figures was geometric. While the doorman's body is structured in a dominant rectangular shape, the little girl is framed by an equilateral triangle. As the caption tells us, this is an ad for toys and New Year’s gifts.
