The nine lives of the cat is a play in two acts of Henry Jardiel Poncela, premiered at the theater Borrás of Barcelona, September 17, 1943. Enrique Jardiel Poncela (1901-1952) was a Spanish playwright and novelist who wrote mostly humorous works. The Teatro Infanta Isabel is one of the oldest theaters in Madrid, Spain. It opened on February 9, 1907 as National Cinema. A few months later became the Petit Palais and finally was renamed Infanta Isabel in 1913. As the caption tells us, this play is the funniest of all of Jardiel Poncela’s !
