Details
Poster commissioned (ca.1960) by the Loterie Nationale (French national lottery) created in 1933. This poster is a reference to Jonah the eponymous central character in the Book of Jonah, famous for being swallowed by a fish or a whale. The Biblical story of Jonah is also repeated, with a few notable differences, in the Qur'an. As the caption tells us: “Swallowed by a whale he managed to survive and step out alive after three days. He would certainly have won the lottery!”
