A whimsical poster commissioned by the Loterie Nationale (French national lottery) created in 1933 and realized in 1959 by Lucien Boucher. Entitled “The beautiful journeys of the fortune” the action takes place under the reign of the French king, Louis the 16th. Dame Fortune is being carried in a sedan chair by sumptuously dressed blackamoors and followed by a happy King Charles spaniel. As the caption tells us: “Fortune likes to travel. Grab her as she goes by!”
