A beautiful poster, realized by Oge ca. 1900, to advertise "Vegetaline",a type of powder made of coconut that is used for cooking. As the slogan at the bottom says: "The best, more digestible more hygienic than butter, oil and fat". In order to show how exotic it is, Oge depicts an African boy, who presents this product to the white chef.
This poster is featured in the book "Eugène Ogé Affichiste" (1998) on p. 148.
Eugène Ogé (1861-1936) was a French poster artist with a unique and playful style. In 1902. he produced one of the best-known anticlerical images of its period La Lanterne. He also made a large number of commercial posters for products. (Wiki)
