Original Vintage French Alcohol Poster for "Guignolet Cointreau" by OGE 1907

More Views

A rare and beautiful poster, realized by Oge in 1907, to advertise Guignolet, which is a French wild cherry liqueur. It is widely available in France, including at supermarkets such as Casino and others, but is not widely available internationally. A leading producer is the company Giffard in Angers, France, the same town where Cointreau is produced. The Cointreau brothers have been instrumental in its reinvention, the original recipe having been lost. The clown depicted here is playing with a big cherry as if it was ball, while his pants have a cherry pattern. This poster is featured in the book "Eugène Ogé Affichiste" (1998) on p. 107. Eugène Ogé (1861-1936) was a French poster artist with a unique and playful style. In 1902. he produced one of the best-known anticlerical images of its period La Lanterne. He also made a large number of commercial posters for products. (Wiki)
