A sheet printed for an Anglo-Saxon calendar in the late eighteen hundreds or at the turn of the century. Both the young lady and the gentleman are holding their “carnet de bal”. The “carnets de bal” first appeared in the balls ca. 1820 and were used by the dancers to keep track of the partners with whom they had agreed to dance.
