Amaretti di Saronno are a sweet creation by Lazzaroni dating back to 1718. In fact, according to the legend, at that time, on the occasion of a visit to Saronno by the Cardinal of Milan, two young sweethearts prepared a dough in his honour containing sugar, egg white and apricot kernels. And so they baked two small round sweetmeats with a slightly bitter taste, for this reason called \"Amaretti\" by the two sweethearts. Lazzaroni has been marketing the product since that time and over all these years hundreds, if not thousands, of different tins in various models have been produced and the majority are still available today.
