A beautiful poster by F Hugo d’Alesi (1849-1906) ca. 1920 for the city of Toulon in the South of France. Not only was d’Alesi one of the most prolific poster designers, he was also noted as being the most meticulous. The port of Toulon is home to the French Mediterranean Fleet. During WW2 the German Army occupied Southern France leading to the scuttling of the French Fleet at Toulon in November 1942.
