This poster is typical of the series of posters printed in the wake of May 1968 in France. The May 1968 protest refers to a particular period in French history. It was historically significant for being the first wildcat general strike ever, and for bringing the economy of an advanced industrial country to a virtual standstill. This poster is in fact a news sheet, calling itself “the against–newspaper” with such headings as “we don’t give a heck”, “the struggle goes on” etc.
