Original Alcohol Drink French Adverting Vintage Poster "Bonal" by Cassandre 1933

More Views

This poster by Cassandre features a French man enjoying the liquor that appears to 'open up', or 'unlock' the appetite and is entitled, "Bonal, Gentiane-Quina". The drink, made of quina, contains febrifuge properties that destroy the plasmodiums that cause malaria. The popularity and utility of this drink as a medicine encouraged its improvement both in flavor and tonic effect, adding gentian root, a bitter plant beneficial to the digestive system, and sugar to soften the flavor, and finally incorporating sufficient alcohol to improve its conservation. The beverage is recommended as a unique and tasty aperitif in numerous gastronomic publications and tourist guides. It is a popular drink to take before meals, as it helps to improve the appetite. THIS IS THE VERSION WITH THE RARE PINK BACKGROUND COLOR!!!!
